Kiri Boxes for Shigefusa Knives

Long overdue

About a year ago, I received 6 custom made kiri boxes that I had comissioned a couple months earlier. The idea was simple, give several of my yo handled Shigefusa Gyutos a 'home' to give them better protection agains humidity. I simply never got around to cut the dividers to the right size and glue them in place.

Today was the day. Yes, clearly I do not have a proper work space.

First one done

First knife is in, a 180mm Shigefusa Kasumi Gyuto, not too bad an easier than I thought it would be.

Nearly done

Some sanding left on the edges where the dividers meet the box.

Done

I am pretty pleased with the end result. Posted a cropped version of this image on my Instagram account as well, but this one shows off the handles much better. The bottom 3 handles were made by Dan Pahlberg and are simply stunning, incredible craftmanship.
